Our Call for Inclusive, Equitable Workplaces

CWI Labs and its sister nonprofit, the Center for Workforce Inclusion has seen first-hand the power of work to transform not only individuals and their families, but whole communities. The ability to engage in an honest day’s work and be compensated with an honest day’s pay is a fundamental American value. Inclusive communities where every member can pursue economic opportunity free from discrimination is a fundamental American ideal.

The tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd followed by the protests throughout our country are demanding that we embody our values and ideals in acts and deeds. CWI Labs and the Center for Workforce Inclusion support this goal. We are committed to generating innovative, fundamental, and systemic change that creates pathways to economic opportunities for all Americans. We are committed to inclusive workplaces where every person is valued and respected. This is the vision we share with our partners and funders, and the mission we pursue within our communities.

The events of the past month have shocked our nation to the core. The sacred gift of life and the ability to engage as productive citizens across our society must not be compromised by fear and distrust. For many, however, this is their reality. We can do better. Employers must assume greater leadership in fostering a work environment of diversity, inclusion, and, most of all, tolerance. Society must assume a higher level of impatience when acts of hatred and bigotry are perpetuate against our minority communities. We as private citizens have an equal responsibility to speak up and speak out when we observe acts of bigotry. We owe it to ourselves and we owe it to our conscience. We also owe it to the next generation of Americans whose path will follow the legacy that we create. Let that journey begin today.
